Departure Day for New Zealand Trip!
After all the planning, all the arranging, all the anticipation, the day is finally here! In a few hours I’ll be on the plane for the first leg of my flight to New Zealand.
What a ride it’s been to this point. What trip to join? What stuff to take? Flights. Finances. Not to mention figuring out how to get “regular life” stuff taken care of while I’m gone for these three weeks.
After two years, my lovely Goose, the cat I got from Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, has finally warmed up to me. Every evening, he pretty much demands to get into my lap so we can have a love-fest. How will he react to my being gone? He’ll be well taken care of, but I can’t see him presenting himself to anyone else for belly rubs. I hope when I get back we can resume where we left off.
Everything I’m taking is stuffed into two backpacks. The tall one (red top) is for “me stuff.” That’s the one I’m checking. The black one is all camera and computer equipment. Probably too much, but if I’m going half-way around the world, I want to be prepared! I hope I can haul it all…the stuff’s heavy!
Not sure when I’ll be able to update the blog. It’s a looooooonnnnngggg trip to New Zealand and I’ll only be able to update where there’s wireless access. But I’m thinking the travel itself is bound to be full of its own kind of adventure, before the bigger adventure starts.
I’m looking forward to it all!
